TRANSPORT and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali has sued the State demanding damages for the aggravated assault he allegedly suffered at the hands of a police officer in 2020. Tayali says he was physically assaulted by an “overzealous” police officer who pointed an AK 47 rifle at his head when he accompanied President Hakainde Hichilema, as UPND president then, for questioning. He wants the Lusaka High Court to order the Attorney General, who he has cited as the respondent in the matter, to also award him interest on the sums payable to him at the current bank lending rate and any other relief the court may deem fit.
