THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has ordered Lusaka UPND mayoral candidate Simon Mwewa to pay K20,000 in damages within seven days for calling another man “a UPND Chibolya thug”. The court has further ordered Mwewa to issue a public apology on Facebook to James Mwalimu within the next three days and to pull down the defamatory posts. The court adds that as a public leader, Mwewa should not have defamed Mwalimu, stating that it is regrettable the calibre of leaders the country is producing.
