Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has been shortlisted to officiate at next year’s World Cup tournament to be hosted in Russia.

A 38-year-old Sikazwe who officiated the Africa Cup final between Egypt and Cameroon in Gabon early this month, will be among seven other African referees that have been shortlisted.

According to the report, only four African referees will be picked to officiate at the 2018 Russian World Cup tournament.

The top ranked FIFA referee officiated a World Club Cup match in Japan between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers in December 2016.

He made headlines over his controversial decision not to issue a red card to Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.
