Obvious Mwaliteta says he is sad that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is still in prison.

Speaking to journalists shortly after being released from Lusaka Central Correctional Facility today, the former Lusaka Province Minister said whilst he was happy about being free, he was sad that his president remained incarcerated.

“Finally we have been acquitted, we knew that this was just political persecution but I am just sad that our president still remains in incarceration and my friend Keith Mukata also is in that situation, I am very sad,” Mwaliteta said.

He however thanked his lawyers, family members and the party for their support during his stay in prison.

“But I am very happy with the lawyers who have worked tirelessly to see me out, the family, the party for the support, I am very very happy. I will give you more details later on,” said Mwaliteta.

Mwaliteta was arrested a year ago and charged with aggravated robbery for trying to secure Gen 12 forms at City Airport.

Magistrate Mwape Bowa set him and four of his co-accused free this morning saying the prosecution had failed to prove a case against them.
