Musician Mundia Mukubesa alias Petersen has left the Andyford Banda-led Peoples’ Alliance for Change.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mukubesa who was the party’s candidate in the 2018 Lusaka mayoral by-election said he has decided to own his political integrity, promising to continue offering his voice on different national issues.

“Several weeks ago, I informed the senior leadership and the Executive members of the People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) of my decision to disassociate myself from all internal and external activities of the political party. With the advent of social media, decisions and actions of this kind are always a subject of rumours, gossip and speculation in this day and age. For this reason, it is only politically, socially and morally responsible to make my actions known publicly to my followers, sympathisers, supporters and the nation at large,” Mukubesa said.

“For my part, I choose to remain a Zambian before any political affiliation and will continue sharing my independent opinions through my interactions on various platforms. I also intend to continue playing an active role in building a better Zambia and would like to use this opportunity to encourage every Zambian; young and old to stand up and fight for a better Zambia. I choose to own my own political integrity and my concerns for the country (Zambia) that I love dearly and I believe it is the only principled decision that can be made in the circumstances we find ourselves in.”

He thanked PAC leader Andyford Banda for adopting him as the party’s candidate for the 2018 Lusaka mayoral by-elections.
