UPND MPs sustain injuries in road accident

Three UPND members of parliament and a driver have sustained serious injuries in an accident which occurred around 13:45 hours on Siavonga road at Mutolanganga area today.

According to police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, the three members of parliament involved are Siavonga UPND member of parliament Darius Mulunda, Mapatizya UPND member of parliament Clive Miyanda and Sikongo UPND member of parliament Mundiya Ndelameyi.

“Involved was Blessings Tembo aged 26 of Lusaka’s Libala South who was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero registration number BAC 4844 from the direction of South to North who sustained a cut on the forehead. Also Involved were Honourable Members of Parliament who were passengers namely: Mr. Darius Mulunda aged 62 of Siavonga Constituency who sustained a deep cut on the left leg and a cut on the Head, Mr. Clive Miyanda aged 56 of Mapatizya Constituency who sustained a painful neck, cut on the right Arm and Mr Mundiya Ndelameyi aged 54 of Sikongo Constituency who sustained a bruised face, backache and complained of general body pains,” Katongo stated.

“The accident occurred when the driver of the motor vehicle was overtaking a Mercedes Benz truck registration number ALF 9023 driven by Phenius Mwale and in the process careered off the road and overturned. All the injured are admitted to Savonga District Hospital.”
