AGRICULTURE Minister Mtolo Phiri says the cancellation of the fertiliser procurement tender for the 2022/2023 farming season was due to a technical error, and not that it was fraudulent. And Phiri says the previous government engaged a supplier who was paid in full but has failed to deliver 17,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser. Speaking in Parliament, Wednesday, Phiri confirmed that ZPPA had cancelled the fertiliser tender, but said government had adopted another quicker procurement method which would be concluded today. “On the issue that ZPPA cancelled the tender, I can confirm that is very true.
