ACTING Leader of Government Business in Parliament Jack Mwiimbu has announced that no by-election will be held in Mpika following the death of the Mpika Town Council Chairperson. Mwiimbu says according to the Zambian Constitution, by-elections cannot be held within 180 days before general elections. Mpika Town Council Chairperson Morgan Musoma died on January 28, 2026, and the seat officially became vacant on February 4.
