POLICE yesterday surrounded Protea Hotel in Chipata in an effort to drive away NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, his running mate Makebi Zulu and their supporters. Meanwhile, former Lukashya PF member of parliament George Chisanga says police informed them that the people they were seeking were linked to the fracas that recently occurred in Chawama. Mundubile and Zulu were in Chipata for the burial of Paramount Chief Mpezeni, who died on May 30, 2026. In a Facebook post accompanied by a one-minute video, Zulu said police officers had been instructed to hound him and Mundubile out of Chipata, adding that officers were picking out the duo’s members one by one for unknown reasons.
