SIMILAR to what is happening with the presidential race, the UPND has maintained a decent lead over parliamentary seats, as the party has won over 90 seats, while the opposition has secured at least 45 seats. A number of MPs have also retained their seats, with UPND Choma Central MP Cornelius Mweetwa being the latest MP to be re-elected. Mweetwa, who is former minister of Information and Media, polled 18,495 votes, while his closest rival Baker Chakwana, an independent candidate, polled 14,803 votes.
