The Lusaka City Council (LCC) Fast Track Court has fined pick n Pay Supermarket K18, 500 for selling expired beverages.

According to a ruling by Judge Brian Simachela, Pick N’ Pay was found guilty of selling 13 x 2 litres of red apple flavored soft drinks, and 8 x 2 litres of ginger beer flavored soft drinks 8.

After pleading guilty to the charge, Pick n Pay was ordered to pay K18, 500 within 48 hours.

And in a statement today, Lusaka City Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Brenda Katongola warned food and retail outlets to adhere to the relevant Acts of the Laws of Zambia, which among them included the Local Government Act Cap 281; and the Food and Drugs Act (Cap. 303) Legislation 2006 (1972).
