A Lusaka resident is demanding compensation for personal injuries he suffered after being hit by a vehicle which was part of the presidential motorcade in 2016.
Levison Muchunga of John Howard has dragged the Attorney General to court, claiming special damages over the loss of income.
Muchunga is also demanding for medical, transport expenses to and from the hospital, valued at K2,800.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka high court Muchunga said he was hit by an unregistered Toyota Car which was part of the presidential motorcade despite standing off the road at Kafue roundabout on June 25,2016.
Muchunga said the accident was caused as a result of the excessive speeding by the driver of the Toyota Runx who failed to swerve and look out for other road users in a bid to avoid committing an accident.
He stated that the vehicle was moving from the southern direction into the northern direction when the accident happened, leaving him with a ruptured spleen and permanent scars.
After the accident the victim was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital aboard Zambia police service motor vehicle which was also part of the presidential motorcade.
He says he was operated on and later discharged.
Muchunga said even after being discharged from hospital on July 13, 2016, he was still unable to go for work due to injuries he sustained.
