THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has procured 100 drums of bitumen to facilitate pothole patching on roads requiring urgent maintenance across the city.
The council says priority will be given to high-traffic roads, feeder roads and routes serving hospitals, schools and markets to improve accessibility and road safety.
LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba urged motorists to exercise caution and cooperate with road crews while the maintenance works are underway.
“The Lusaka City Council wishes to inform residents that it has procured 100 drums of bitumen to facilitate pothole patching on roads requiring urgent maintenance within the city. This intervention forms part of the Council’s ongoing road maintenance program aimed at improving the condition of priority roads and enhancing safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Works will commence on selected roads identified by the Department of Engineering and Infrastructure Development as most affected by potholes and surface defects. The Council will prioritize high-traffic roads, feeder roads, and routes serving hospitals, schools, and markets,” read the statement.
