PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has secured a second term in office. The results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia place him in a comfortable position of victory with a comfortable margin. Winning an election, however, is one thing. Uniting a country after the election is a completely different assignment. As we pointed out in our editorial comment yesterday, the tally of the election results tells a troubling story. There is no denying that Zambia remains politically divided along regional lines. Some provinces have voted overwhelmingly in one direction, while others have voted heavily in another. The first task of the winners, therefore, must be to bring those who feel defeated, alienated or excluded back to the national dialogue table....
