Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has sent a message of goodwill to the family of late Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba-Sichilembe who died on Wednesday aged 49.

And former Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Mumbi Phiri has pointed out that the Zambians diplomatic mission in Kenya has reckless drivers who previously subjected her to two accidents during her reign.

Muntemba was on the February 26, 2019 involved in a road traffic accident in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi and was admitted on life support at the Intensive care unit until her death, Tuesday.

In a statement, Kanganja said Mutemba’s death was a blow to the entire Zambia Police service, adding that she was a committed servant who diligently served her country.

“Before her appointment by His Excellence the President of the Republic of Zambia, we worked with Ms Muntemba in the Zambia Police where she diligently served the nation in different positions most prominent ones being that of Zambia Police Public Relations Officer and Commissioner of Police, the rank she held until her appointment into the foreign Mission. She will greatly be missed by the entire Zambia Police Service and the nation at large. We stand with the family of Ms Muntemba Sichilembe through out this difficult time. May Her Soul Rest in Peace,” stated Kanganja.

And speaking to journalists in Lusaka, Phiri said the Zambian mission in Kenya had very reckless drivers who also subjected her to two accidents during her time in that country.

“You know since the accident happened, it has been a very sad period for me. In fact, when we were coming here [to Parliament] I was just talking to my son who is also in Nairobi. I experienced two accidents with the same vehicle, they have rough drivers in Mombasa and you can imagine somebody who takes over from you then you start thinking that God removed me at least am still alive. She (Muntemba) is young, I feel it for the mother because we congregate together. Otherwise I have been so disturbed. Let us all rally behind the family so that we lessen their hardships as they go through this situation, It’s very very sad,” said Phiri.
