Government has issued a programme for Friday’s National Day of Prayer and Fasting which highlights 17 prayer points, among them, the economy, a bumper harvest and tolerance among political parties.
According to the programme, other prayer points include the hunger situation; for good rains and the Constitution Amendment process.
“Let’s pray that God will continue to give the Government wisdom to deal with the hunger situation that has affected some parts of the country so that no one dies. Prayers for the Constitution Amendment process, that all stakeholders have a sincere heart to see to it that we have a Constitution that will stand a test of time. Prayers for good rains and bumper harvest for this farming season,” the programme reads in parts.
The country is also expected to pray for the economy, the presidency and the first family as well as a prayer to “pull down the syndrome of categorizing areas as other people’s political strongholds”.
“Prayers for Zambia – to pull down strongholds over the land of Zambia – Plead the blood of Jesus Christ over Zambia – Open heavens over Zambia. Prayers for the Economy -Job Creation -The Mines -Agriculture -Local and Foreign Investors. Prayers for the Presidency, The first family Continued good health for the Former Presidents, Former first ladies and all families in the nation,” further reads the programme.
“Prayer for Confession and national Repentance. Prayer for Rededication of the Nation to God. Prayer of Thanksgiving for Everything God has done in the Nation. Prayer for peace and Unity. Prayer for Healing and Reconciliation with one another and with the environment. Prayers for Safety on our roads and general safety of all citizens. Prayer for our National Leaders, Traditional leaders, Religious Leaders and Everyone in Leadership at all levels.”
Meanwhile, Zambia will also pray against the spirit of tribalism as well as against all forms of violence such as murder, child defilement and early marriages among others.
“Prayer for all political parties to live in harmony to be tolerant and avoid violence. We pray against all forms of violence including murders, child defilements, early marriages, immorality and character assassinations. Prayer against the spirit of Tribalism in the Nation. Prayers for Diplomats accredited to Zambia Our Ambassadors, and High commissioners All our public service workers within and in missions abroad. Pray that the Church will rise up and vigorously engage in evangelism and discipleship. Prayer for the Clergy and sustained unity in the Church and the speedy completion of the National House of Prayer. Prayers for the media: for wrong reporting of information – abuse of social media by the Public etc,” read the programme.
The 2019 national day of prayer and fasting will be commemorated under the theme: “Receiving Times of Refreshing from the Presence of the Lord Through Reconciliation with One Another and the Environment for a Prosperous Zambia” (Acts 3:19).
