FINANCE Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane says it’s economically illogical for people to expect to live as well as they did back in the 1960s, given the country’s low copper production of about 700,000 metric tonnes. Dr Musokotwane says people like him, who went to school in the 1960s, would enjoy a breakfast of bacon, sausage, baked beans, and toast bread because the population was smaller then, and the 700,000 metric tonnes of copper production was more than sufficient. Dr Musokotwane, however, says his administration is pushing for increased production by implementing a favourable mining tax regime.
