THE Zambian kwacha has continued to appreciate against the US dollar, reaching K17.9 as at close of business yesterday. According to the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) website, as at 15:30 hours yesterday, the kwacha was buying at K17.9 to a dollar and selling at K17.9. The K17 rate is the highest gain the country has recorded in years. Meanwhile, BoZ Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya had earlier attributed the strong performance of the kwacha to strong inflows from the mining sector and foreign financial institutions.
