THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced Simon Huang, a Chinese businessman, to a fine of K1,200 for selling shoes with counterfeit Puma trademark. In this matter, Huang was charged with one count of offering for sale goods bearing a forged or false trademark description, contrary to Section 6(1)(g) of the Merchandise Marks Act of the Laws of Zambia. Huang pleaded guilty to the charge after it was read to him. Facts of the matter are that on August 7, 2025, the Zambia Police Service received a complaint from Paulus Ramara of PUMA SE that they noticed that there were some shops in Lusaka town which were selling fake shoes with their trademark.
