THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced Francis Kapwepwe, popularly known as “Why Me”, to two years’ imprisonment with hard labour for hate speech. Meanwhile, Kapwepwe has asked President Hakainde Hichilema and the Tonga-speaking people to forgive him, stating that he has realised that they have good hearts. Lusaka Principal Resident Magistrate Idah Phiri convicted Kapwepwe after he pleaded guilty to charges of hate speech. Kapwepwe admitted to the charges of hate speech when he took a fresh plea, stating that he had no lawful excuse for uttering offensive remarks directed at the Presidency and the Tonga-speaking people of Southern Province.
