UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma has announced that the rally which was supposed to be held in Kanyama today will be in Munali next week Sunday.

In a statement today, Kakoma stated that the venue would be advised soon.

“We would like to inform the Nation that our planned rally in Kanyama today will not take place. However, we shall do so the next Sunday in Lusaka, Munali constituency and at a venue to be advised,” Kakoma stated.

He insisted that the cancellation of their Kanyama rally by the Ministry of Health was politically motivated.

“It is our sincere hope that the PF and it’s government will now cancel all other public gatherings which include independence day celebrations in Lusaka because not doing so, will be confirmation enough that the PF is only abusing the Public Order Act and the Health Act to disadvantage the UPND,” stated Kakoma.

“There is no doubt that should the Independence Day celebrations in any part of Lusaka go ahead on Tuesday , we will conclude that the decision by the Minister of Health Dr Chilufya Chitalu to postpone the UPND rally because of cholera was politically motivated. We shall then proceed to hold our rally next Sunday.”
