Lungu nominates Mumbi Phiri back to Parley

President Edgar Lungu has nominated PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri as a member of parliament.

In a statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, State House also announced that it would only issue stamped PDF statements as one of the measures targeted at containing fake news.

“His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia has nominated Patriotic Front Deputy Secretary General Mrs Mumbi Phiri as member of parliament. The decision is in exercise of the powers vested in the President under Article 69 (I) of the Constitution of Zambia. Meanwhile State House wishes to announce that in its ongoing efforts to curb the rampant cases of forged media statements being issued by fraudsters, the media and the general public are hereby informed that the Press Office will now always stamp and circulate all its statements in PDF or Jipeg formats. All the statements will also be duly signed on each page,” stated Chanda.
