Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba has died.

Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale confirmed this to News Diggers! in an interview, Tuesday, saying Kalumba was admitted at the University Teaching Hospital at 06:00 hours this morning and he died around 11:40 hours.

Mwale said details of his illness would be communicated later.

“It is with a heavy heart that I wish to announce the passing on of the Mayor of Lusaka Mr Wilson Kalumba who passed on around 11:40 hours this morning here at the UTH. He was brought in around 06:00 hours,” said Mwale.

“We will continue to inform the nation from time to time about the arrangements for the funeral. We wish his family, friends and the Lusaka City Council sincere condolences.”

Mwale said the Mayor was unwell for some time and was on medication. He said despite this, His Worship the Mayor continued discharging his duties.
