THE 2023 Labour Force Survey report has revealed that urban areas have a higher youth unemployment rate at 20 percent compared to rural areas at 12.3 percent. The Survey, which was conducted by the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats), reveals that Copperbelt Province has the highest youth unemployment rate of 45.5 per cent. “The youth unemployment rate was estimated at 26.4 percent. The youth unemployment rate for males was at 26.4 percent while that of females was at 26.3 percent. The youth unemployment rate in rural areas was at 17.9 percent while in urban areas it was 33.0 percent.
