POLICE yesterday surrounded Gary Nkombo’s residence, with the Mazabuka Central aspiring candidate describing the action as police intimidation and citizen victimisation. He insists that the people of Mazabuka Central must be allowed to freely express themselves through the ballot. Meanwhile, Nkombo and four other aspiring independent candidates have applied to the Lusaka High Court for leave to commence judicial review proceedings against the decision by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to withdraw the ‘Candle’ symbol allocated to them. The five are Simon Mwila, Michael Chuulu, Faith Lungu, Nkombo and Iris Kaingu Kamwi.
