THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has disbursed K19.4 million under the 2026 CDF allocation to capitalise 884 small and startup enterprises across seven constituencies in Lusaka District.

The disbursement targets youth and women-led community groups, clubs and cooperatives in Kabwata, Kanyama, Matero, Munali, Lusaka Central, Mandevu and Chawama Constituencies.

In a statement, LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba said the funds are intended to provide startup capital for income-generating projects, stimulate local enterprise growth and create jobs at ward level in line with government’s decentralization and poverty reduction agenda.

“Munali Constituency received the highest allocation amounting to K2,825,000.00 for 113 groups while Kanyama Constituency recorded the highest community uptake with 178 groups accessing K2,771,400.00. Matero Constituency received K2,771,403.13 for 113 groups, Kabwata Constituency received K2,771,400.00 for 120 cooperatives, Mandevu Constituency received K2,771,407.10 for 123 groups, Chawama Constituency received K2,771,404.72 for 142 groups and Lusaka Central Constituency received K2,771,000.00 for 95 groups. The funds will support enterprises in poultry, tailoring, block making, agro-processing, welding and service-based businesses. All 884 beneficiaries were vetted by their respective Ward Development Committees and underwent technical appraisal by the Council to confirm project viability before approval,” stated Mwamba.

“To ensure accountability and sustainability, the Council conducted orientation and financial literacy training for all beneficiary groups prior to project implementation. This disbursement underscores the Council’s commitment to using the 2026 CDF allocation to unlock grassroots entrepreneurship and reduce poverty through community-driven enterprises”.
