CHAPTER One Foundation (COF) says treason charges against political opponents must not be resolved through negotiation but handled independently within the judicial process. Meanwhile, Presidential Political Advisor Levy Ngoma says comparing the 2017 treason case against President Hakainde Hichilema with the Brian Mundubile arrest is misplaced. On Wednesday, lawyer Milner Katolo said the UN, SADC and church mother bodies have been engaged to negotiate with government, over the treason charges against Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and 16 others. Katolo explained that this is not the first time such a situation has occurred, recalling that in 2017, President Hichilema also faced treason charges, until the Commonwealth intervened and settled the matter.
