AVRAM Grant has included defender Aime Mabika in his 55-member provisional squad ahead of the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Congolese born defender has failed to honour the Chipolopolo call-up on several occasions despite acquiring a Zambian passport before the AFCON qualifiers started. The towering Toronto FC defender was cleared to represent Zambia in June and was called for the Ivory Coast AFCON qualifier but excused himself to sort out personal matters. The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to be the 34th edition of the biennial African football tournament organized by CAF.
