A Lusaka man has been dragged to court for allegedly breaking into the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court complex and stealing items worth over K8,000, belonging to three magistrates.
In this matter, John Mwanza of unknown address is charged with three counts of breaking into a building and committing a felony.
In the first count, it is alleged that on March 16, this year, Mwanza with intent to steal, broke and entered the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court new complex chambers and stole a mouse piece valued at K50, property of Mulenga Tabitha.
In the second count, it is alleged that on the same day, Mwanza with intent to steal, broke and entered the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court complex chambers and stole a radio and a flash drive all valued at K250 from Sakwanda Kaunda.
And in the third count, it is alleged that Mwanza with intent to steal, broke and entered the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court complex and stole a laptop valued at K8,000, the property of Rachel Mwansa.
The matter has been allocated to magistrate Felix Kaoma and the accused is expected to take plea soon.
And a 34-year-old Lusaka man has been dragged to court for stealing chairs worth K1,500 from Redeemed Baptist Church International.
In this matter, Matthews Phiri of Chalala, is facing one count of theft contrary to Section 272 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that on March 26, 2019 in Lusaka, Phiri stole six black chairs worth K1,500, the property of the said church.
The matter has been allocated to magistrate Martha Miti.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old general worker of Lusaka’s Mtendere township has been dragged to court for unlawfully wearing of a Zambia Police combat uniform.
In this matter, Mike Njobvu is charged with one count of unlawful wearing of uniform contrary to Section 183 (3) of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence allege that on February 25, this year in Lusaka, Njobvu wore an official uniform without authority.
The matter has been allocated to magistrate Felix Kaoma.
In the same court, a maid and a caretaker of Lusaka’s Meanwood area have been charged for assaulting a child below the age of 16.
In this matter, Austin Sichula, 36, a caretaker and Chisha Chitambala, 39, a maid, are charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that on March 12, 2019 in Lusaka, the two assaulted a girl under the age of 16 and occasioned her actual bodily harm.
