ENERGY Regulation Board Chairperson Reynolds Bowa says only diesel users will benefit from the conversion of the TAZAMA pipeline for now. Bowa has, however, assured that petrol and kerosene users will also start receiving benefits when the two products start coming into the country by pipeline. On Monday, government announced the completion of the conversion of the TAZAMA pipeline from transporting crude oil to transporting low Sulphur diesel. Energy Minister Peter Kapala said the conversion of the TAZAMA pipeline will significantly reduce the transportation costs of low Sulphur diesel by almost US$120 per metric tonne, from the current US$170 per metric tonne using road fuel tankers to US$49 per metric tonne.
