FINANCIAL Intelligence Centre (FIC) Acting Director General Liya Tembo says the Centre does not necessarily need powers to arrest and prosecute, arguing that this would be overlapping with other institutions. And Tembo says there should be a limit to which individuals can engage in cash transactions in order to curb financial crimes in the country. Meanwhile, Tembo says freezing accounts is vital because without that, criminals will continue enjoying their lives even after serving jail time because their illicitly obtained wealth would still be at their disposal.
