I AM asking for unity among ourselves because without unity, we can’t effectively develop Kazungula South Constituency, Chief Mukuni’s son, Siasiloka, tells Musokotwane Village headmen.
Siasiloka Mukuni, who is the UPND Kazungula South Constituency aspiring candidate, also says there has been no animosity between him and Kazungula North unopposed parliamentary candidate Dr Clement Andeleki, as was earlier perceived by some people.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Musokotwane Village headmen at Kanchele Primary School to kick-start his campaigns, accompanied by his mother Veronica, traditionally referred to as Inankwazi, Mukuni said he would be campaigning with his eight ward aspiring candidates so as to enhance unity in the party.
“I want to listen to you because I am asking to be sent into Parliament. I am also asking for unity among ourselves because without unity we can’t develop Kazungula South. That is why I have decided to be going around with aspiring councillors, so that they see what is there and avoid rival debates over developmental projects when they get into the council chamber, because without unity we can’t develop,” Mukuni said.
Mukuni, who was also accompanied by the UPND Kazungula Council chairperson aspiring candidate Tatila Mbozi, said he wants to see enhanced development in Kazungula South.
And addressing his inaugural campaign rally at Kanchele Primary School, Mukuni said he is aware of the housing and water challenges teachers and nurses face in Kanchele Village.
He also said there is need for a boarding school in Kanike area because children walk long distances to access education, while some girls end up in early marriages.
“It’s not only about representing you in Parliament, but also being there during times of challenges. We will not forget the sick, we will not stop supporting you during bereavements,” said Mukuni.
A headman in Kanchele Village, Charles Chileya, said the traditional leadership had resolved to endorse Mukuni and Mbozi.
Meanwhile, Mbozi said President Hakainde Hichilema has done a lot in his first term over the last five years and deserves another term so that he can complete his developmental projects.
She said under President Hichilema’s first term, a dam and a school have been built in Kanchele Village.
