MINISTRY of Health has disclosed that Zambia has approximately 1,308,000 people living with HIV in 2025, a decrease from 1,311,000 in 2023. The Ministry has further revealed that AIDS-related deaths declined to 16,000 in 2025 compared to 66,000 in 2005. The Ministry adds that Zambia has made progress in reducing mother-to-child transmission, with the rate dropping from 34.4 percent in 2005 to 6.12 percent in 2025.
