THREE illegal miners have died after being buried by loose soil at the KCM Over Burden (OB)-19 dumpsite along the Chingola-Solwezi Road in Chingola. Copperbelt Police Commissioner Rae Hamoonga says five miners were initially rescued after a section of the dumpsite collapsed, but two were pronounced dead upon arrival at Nchanga North General Hospital. He said the body of a third miner was later retrieved from beneath the soil during a search operation.
