One of the most abused and retrogressive laws that we have in Zambia is the Public Order Act. Our people’s right to enjoy freedoms that are constitutionally guaranteed have suffered a great deal over the years because of this law. Strangely, those who get in power quickly forget about this law as they begin to benefit from it. It is time to start having a conversation around this issue and asking the New Dawn government if they still remain committed to fixing it. The people of Zambia have voted for the UPND so that they can correct the wrongs, both in the style of governance and in the law. It is their responsibility to ensure that bad laws are repealed...
