SOME butchery operators around Lusaka’s town centre have lamented that the outbreak of Anthrax has resulted in low demand for beef products. According to the Ministry of Health, people get infected with anthrax when germ spores from a sick animal or animal which died on its own get into the body. The germ multiplies or increases in number, spreads out in the body, thereafter produces poison that causes severe illness even death. In an interview, Tuesday, one of the butchery operators, Martha Phiri, said people were skeptical about buying beef products at the moment. “Following the announcement that there was an outbreak of anthrax, business has been slow because people are now scared to eat or buy beef from us....
