THE Chipata High Court has sentenced 26-year-old Nyau dancer of Vwala village in Chief Chikuwe’s area, Kasenengwa district, to death by hanging for murdering his colleague who set ablaze a secret place for Nyau dancers, known as Dambwe. The court has however acquitted four people who were jointly charged with the 26-year-old on account that there was insufficient evidence linking them to the brutal torture of the deceased, which resulted in his untimely death. In this matter, Chisoni Phiri was jointly charged with four other persons, among them, Vwala village headman Kazunga Phiri for the murder of Chipateni Soko.
