A LUSAKA woman has sued Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, demanding special damages totaling K1,446,100 after a pack of surgical gauze was left in her abdomen following a caesarean section she underwent in January 2023. Idah Lungu, who has also cited the Attorney General as the second defendant, is further seeking damages for professional negligence, damages for breach of statutory duty, aggravated damages and interest. In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, Lungu explained that she was on January 3, 2023, admitted to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital for a caesarean section.
