CLOSEDiggers’ quest to stay in contention for the 2017 Zambia Rugby Union league title suffered a setback last Saturday following a 12-8 away loss at Nkwazi in Lusaka.
The defeat was Diggers second of the 2017 campaign and came over a month after they lost 13-10 away, again Lusaka, this time to old foes Powerhouse Lusaka on June 17.
Diggers loss saw them drop from 3rd to 4th on 39 points, 17 points behind leaders and townmates Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) from 10 and 13 games played respectively.
Nkwazi stay in 8th place on 29 points from nine games played.
Green Eagles of Kabwe are now 3rd on 41 points after a 79-0 away victory in Chingola over bottom placed and winless Nchanga.
Meanwhile,KPF maintained their 13-point lead at the summit of the 2017 Zambia Rugby Union league table after a 74-3 home win over 10th placed Konkola.
Arrows stayed 2nd on 43 points without kicking the ball after third from bottom Chibuluma failed to travel from Kalulushi to Lusaka for the Week 13 game.
