CLOSEPolice in Lusaka are tightening security around Matero residential area after a mysterious murder was reported Saturday.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo urged residents to remain calm as officers intensified their investigations.
“We wish to inform members of the public that Police have made progress in investigating the case of murder which occurred in Lusaka’s Paradise compound in Matero in the early hours of yesterday (Saturday),” Katongo stated.
“We therefore urge members of the public to remain calm as police officers are working round the clock to see to it that the case is concluded without delay. An update on the progress made in the investigations will soon be given as doing so now, may jeopardise the whole process.”
She also asked members of the public who may be missing relatives to visit the police station and see if they could identify the body of the victim.
“We further appeal to those with missing relatives to go to Matero Police or UTH mortuary to help in identifying the victim who still remains unidentified,” stated Katongo.
“The Zambia Police Service remains indebted to the members of the public in Matero who have been working hard and in collaboration with the Police in crime detection and prevention.”
