C5 police officers in Lusaka have launched a manhunt for a State House cop who has gone on a shooting rampage with 90 rounds of ammunition, and has so far killed one and shot three others over suspicions that his girlfriend was cheating on him.
Police sources told News Diggers to warn residents in Lusaka’s Mutendere, PHI and Chainama areas about the rouge cop who, at the time of writing, was reported to be on the loose, around Chainama Golf Club.
According to a statement from police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, the fracas began around 17:00 hours yesterday when Constable Jackson Mwanza went to a Chainama Health College student’s room to confront him over suspicions that he was seeing his 24-year-old girlfriend.
Katongo stated that Mwanza stabbed the student, Nike Fungulwa, in the head, shoulder and on the arm using a military knife.
She stated that at 19:55, the student rushed to report the matter to Ben Mwiinga police post in PHI.
“All this started yesterday in which a case of unlawful wounding which occurred yesterday, 19th April, 2019 at about 19:55 hours at Ben Mwiinga Police Post in PHI in which a student at Chainama Health College identified as Nike Fungulwa was stabbed in the head, shoulder and on the arm by a police officer identified as Constable Jackson Mwanza using a military knife. Earlier in the day yesterday, at about 17:00 hours, the officer allegedly went to the room of the student to confront him on suspicion that he had an affair with the officer’s girl friend aged 24 of Mtendere compound and the student ran to Ben Mwiinga police post to report the matter,” Katongo stated.
“The officer is then reported to have gone to Mtendere compound where his girl friend works and confronted her and paper sprayed the room where she was. The woman also managed to escape and ran to Ben Mwinga Police post to report and the officer followed the victim to Ben Mwiinga where he found Nike Fungulwa, the student he was suspecting to have an affair with his girlfriend. The officer became violent and pulled out a military knife and stabbed the Chainama student (Nike).”
Katongo stated that Mwanza resumed his hunt for his girlfriend’s alleged lover at Chainama Health College today where he shot a first year student in his left leg.
“There was a shooting incidence which occurred today 20th April, 2019 at between 07:00 hours and 08:00 hours in which a fugitive police officer identified as Constable Mwanza Jackson went to Chainama Health College where he shot a first year clinical officer student identified as Andrew Zimba aged 20 years of Mulungushi hostel in his left leg and bruised his left thigh,” Katongo stated.
“He further went to Mtendere Sochabe garage where he found his girlfriend chatting with two mechanics and began shooting and shot dead Dickson Mwanza aged 32 of Mtendere on his right chest and left leg, while Albert Chinungo was shot on his forehead and is in the ICU.”
She stated that Mwanza also shot his girlfriend’s 23-year-old friend in her right arm.
“He further went on to look for his girlfriend who had run away and ended up shooting her friend Felistus Tembo aged 23 on her right arm. He has so far shot four people among them three men of which one has died and one female. All the survivors are receiving treatment at Levy Mwanawasa hospital. The fugitive officer at some point booked a grey Toyota Carina which is impounded. When officers tried to apprehend him, he escaped and another report was received today as explained above. A man hunt has been launched,” stated Katongo.

This was reported in an interesting manner but the punctuation and use of language was a little off. This is a comment to encourage improvement and not to offend.
The guy was last seen around 21hrs near the area between old mtendere Zambeef (east) and Mahatma Gandhi road (west bound); tar mark form first bus stop to the main station (south bound) and PHI or golf area (north bound). Pls mark this area coz am thinking this must be his new area of residence or hideout and he last seen buying a small bottle of doom, wearing a black hoodie and jeans trousers with a black vest inside without shoes.
I cn assume someone will find & report a body early next day morning. He was seemly sobered up, harmless & back to his senses then but only to realize what mess he’s caused out of anger, stupidity and careless frustrations. He’s bought his ticket going straight to perish in hell…
