Police in Lusaka have arrested a man identified as Prince Mutowa aged 40 of George Compound for allegedly murdering his 27-year-old wife.

It is alleged that the suspect beat up his wife, Maureen Tembo, alleging that she was not spending nights at home.

“The incident which happened between 03rd September, 2019 around 23 :00 hours and 4th September, 2019 at 01:45 hours in George Compound and was reported to police by a member of the public. It is alleged that the suspect beat up the wife after alleging that she was not spending nights at home. The victim, who is now deceased, sustained head injuries and died on the spot. Police who went to the scene found an electric cable and a pounding stick alleged to have been used in the act. The body is in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem while the suspect is detained in police custody yet to be charged,” Katongo stated.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy identified as Maybin Chilambwe has drowned in Mansa.

“A three-year-old male juvenile identified as Maybin Chilambwe of Kalimwengo village, Chief Kalasa Lukangaba of Mansa District, drowned in Mwan’guni stream. This happened on 04th September, 2019 at about 14:00 hours at Mwan’guni stream in Mansa District. Relatives suspect no foul play. They were advised to bury the body and mark the grave,” stated Katongo.
