EDUCATION Minister Douglas Syakalima has reinstated 18 University of Zambia students who were either expelled or suspended after the riot which occurred on September 18, 2023. The riots, which were sparked by the cancellation of the 2023 UNZA Students Union elections, led to disturbances on Great East Road, property damage and looting. The investigations by the University of Zambia resulted in the expulsion and suspension of some students linked to the unrest.
