TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TI-Z) says Zambia’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) score has dropped by two points, from 39 in 2024 to 37 in 2025, indicating an increase in corruption activities. TI-Z has attributed the drop in the CPI score to increased abuse of office by public officials, who are diverting public funds through strategic business interests and political supporters ahead of the 2026 elections. The CPI is an index that scores or ranks countries by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, as assessed by experts and stakeholders.
