A UPND member has sued FDD leader Edith Nawakwi in the Lusaka High Court, seeking damages for defamation of character. Kenneth Magaleta says Nawakwi alleged that he, together with another UPND member, Tom Silwindi, drove down to Southern Province to pick up Milton Hatembo and Pheluna Hatembo and brought them to Lusaka to withdraw a land case in the High Court. He says as a result of Nawakwi’s defamatory statements, he has suffered great and irreparable damage to his reputation, as he has been exposed to embarrassment, hatred and ridicule. Magaleta now wants an order restraining Nawakwi from making defamatory statements or any similar statements against him going forward.
