President Edgar Lungu’s Special Assistant for Politics Kaizer Zulu yesterday failed to appear at Woodlands Police Station where he was summoned.

According to the call-out sent to Zulu, he was supposed to appear at 09:00 hours.

But after waiting for nearly eight hours with no sign of Zulu, a police officer emerged from the station and informed journalists that Zulu was likely to appear on Monday instead.

“Yes, I am aware that Kaizer is supposed to report here today (Friday) and we have been waiting for him. He is not yet here and we are waiting for further instructions on the next step. Otherwise, I am also not sure why he was summoned, but it must be in connection to a number of issues, which occurred recently. We heard he will only appear on Monday because I am sure he is scared that he would be locked today being Friday,” one officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, told several journalists, late Friday afternoon.

Efforts to get a comment from the officer-in-charge failed as he was not in the office and his phone went unanswered by press time.

Over one week ago, Zulu was involved in a road traffic accident on First Street in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill area where he overtook a school bus containing several school-going children.

But Zulu denied causing the accident, saying that he was awaiting for the police to complete their investigation into the incident.
