PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema yesterday held discussions with an Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) team, led by its Chairman, Judge Esau Chulu, on continuous voter registration and the need for electoral reforms.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Wednesday, President Hichilema said they also exchanged views on other matters affecting the Commission, among them the institution’s need to enhance transparency and accountability in future electoral processes.

“We held a round of fruitful discussions with the Electoral Commission of Zambia team, led by its Chairman Judge Esau Chulu, today at State House. We exchanged views on the need for electoral reforms and other matters affecting the Commission, among them the institution’s need to enhance transparency and accountability in order to win public confidence, and the trust of all stakeholders in future electoral processes,” stated President Hichilema.

“Other subjects discussed centred around proposals and plans to extend the right to vote to Zambians in the diaspora, the continuous voter registration and decentralization among many other matters.”
