ECONOMIC Front leader Wynter Kabimba says he does not think Judicial Service Commission is operating under an environment which guarantees independence, arguing that the presidential appointees who sit on the commission influence most decisions such as the recent transfer of Magistrates. Last week, JSC chairperson Mwikisa Mukande State Counsel said the recent transfer of 10 magistrates out of Lusaka was not influenced by any political events, arguing that his commission was blind to politics. But in an interview, Kabimba said it could not be a coincidence that mostly Magistrates who were handling corruption cases were affected by transfers under the notion of decentralising justice. “What is interesting is that even assuming that the explanation is true, the coincidence is staggering....
