HOME Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has disclosed that government has closed Kamwala Remand Prison because of its inhabitable condition and that all inmates will be transferred to Mwembeshi correctional facility. Debating the motion of supply for the Zambia Correctional Service, Friday, Mwiimbu said government was also decongesting Chimbokaila in Kamwala and only remandees would remain at the facility. “When the prisoners are afflicted with diseases, eventually those close to them get affected. It is our responsibility to ensure that we provide comprehensive health education and adequate health services to those in correctional facilities.
