WHAT started as a simple chicken auction turned out to be an astonishing fundraising event, as attendees at the Likumbi Lya Mize Cultural Ceremony Fundraising Gala Dinner managed to raise about K100,000 from the domestic fowl. Unlike a regular auction where two bidders outbid each other and losing bids are returned, this event was designed purely for fundraising. Each person’s offer for the chicken directly contributed to the total amount, which came to around K97,150.
